Friday Night Showcase

Join us as we bring Challenge Wanaka back into the centre of town for one night only! 

The Integrity Homes Challenge Wanaka Showcase will be a series of entertaining, elite, fun, and inclusive events for all of the Wanaka community.

The night will kick off with our mini event for pre-schoolers, followed by a give it a go-tri offering an accessible super sprint triathlon, open to participants of all abilities and fitness levels. The finale will be the Twilight Challenge which will see the pros battling it out! All events are taking place in and around Pembroke Park.

RACE INFORMATION

The Puzzling World Challenge Wanaka Mini

The Mini is open to all children 5 years old and under, who must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event. There will be a rolling start, so you can get going as and when you arrive. Entry fee of $5 to be paid on the day at the registration desk, open from 3.30pm.

The course will be:

Slide – 15 metres
Run – 100 metres
Scoot – 200 metres (balance bikes can also be used)

New World Three Parks 3-9-3

Give it a go with our super sprint triathlon, open to participants of all abilities and fitness levels (18+ years).

Entry fee and Registration

  • $65 Early Bird until midnight 31st December, after that date $85
  • The entry fee includes a medal, t-shirt and gift for all athletes
  • Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place male and female in each age group (18 – 39 and 40+)
  • Registration will take place at The Lake Wanaka Centre from 3pm – all athletes must register before they can take part.

Swim Course – 300m

The one-lap swim is directly off the beach in Wanaka town, within easy view of spectators watching from the shore. The course has a deep water start swimming in a clockwise direction with a total of two turn buoys.

Bike Course – 9km (3 laps)

The 3 lap bike course leaves transition and heads along Ardmore street, past the crowds of spectators and the stunning Pembroke Park. Cyclists will turn up McDougall Street to the turn around point before coming back down it. They will then head along to Meadowstone Drive before turning around and heading back along Ardmore Street to the turnaround point at transition.

This is a non-drafting race. Cyclists must keep 10m between their front wheel and the rear wheel of the person in front of them.

Run – 3km (2 laps)

The 2 lap run course will see athletes running out along Ardmore Street, again past the crowd of spectators. Mirroring the bike course, runners will head up McDougall Street to the turnaround point, where they will then head back down to Ardmore Street, and back along Ardmore Street to transition and completing lap 1.

The Design Windows Twilight Challenge

Don’t miss out on our headline Elite Sprint event. We will be welcoming top elites from New Zealand and Australia to battle it out on this brand new course. Our 2022 line up includes our very own Olympic Bronze Medalist Hayden Wilde.

Criteria for Elites:

Athletes must have competed in one of the following:

  • ITU race
  • National Series Tri race in either NZ or Australia
  • Be part of a Regional squad (Canterbury,, Queensland, NSW etc), this will be vetted by Tony Dodds however

The race is draft legal as per Tri NZ rules.

Run – 5km (3 laps)

The 3 lap run course will see athletes running out along Ardmore Street, again past the crowd of spectators. Mirroring the bike course, runners will head up McDougall Street to the turnaround point, where they will then head back down to Ardmore Street, and head back along Ardmore Street to transition and completing lap 1.
