In partnership with Wanaka Medical this non-competitive event is a fun way of getting our community active, kick starting a healthy lifestyle or helping you to continue your health and wellbeing journey!
Individual Entry $45
Athletes must be 23 or over.
This event is limited to 200 entries.
The course consists of:
8.00am until 9:15am – Registration at the Wanaka Recreation Centre
There will be bike racks outside for you to use for your bike – biking to the event could be fun too
We will have a registration table inside where you can register, pick up your name sticker, Challenge Wanaka drink bottle that will fit your bike drink holder.
9:15 – 9:45am – 30 minute sessions of Aqua aerobics and Pilates will start
9:15am – Swimmers will do warm up exercises pool side
9:30am – Swimmers will do their 15 minute swim in lanes allocated
10:00 – 11:00am – Get changed and have a deserved coffee/tea or hot chocolate, go out to the van and hand over your ticket and you will receive a Challenge Wanaka glass cup which is another souvenir of the day.
There will be a Challenge Wanaka Ute parked outside the pool to take swimming bags and any gear you might require when finished at the Watersports Centre.
11:00am – Bike ride will head off, turn left and through the new under pass, heading out to Albert Town and down Gunn Road to join the Outlet track and continue along the lakefront to the Watersports Facility.
Please note: There are no closed roads and all traffic rules must be obeyed on the road, there maybe other cyclists and walkers on the tracks so also be courteous to them.
Remember – this is not a race, it is a non-competitive social ride. You are welcome to ride any bike that you feel most competent on – this includes e-bikes.
If you have chosen not to do the bike ride, then make your way to the Watersports Centre so you can join the walk.
12:00pm – we will have a 2.5km walk out towards Waterfall Creek and back 2.5Km to make 5Km walk.
1.30pm – lunch will be served by the Aspiring Rotary club, this is included in your entry fee as well
At the finish we will have water, PURE electrolyte drink and fruit
You are then free to take your bike and head home
Beginner learn to swim classes from our own QLDC swim schools are available at both Queenstown Events Centre and Wanaka Recreation Centre, details can be found on their website
Peak Endurance run adult swim lessons and squads at the Wanaka Pool, from beginner to advanced. Contact is Merryn Johnston Merryn Johnston.
Fitter run more advanced adult training squads from 6am Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and contact is Tim Brazier
