This information is current as of the date published above and is subject to change based on information and advice from the NZ Government.
Competitors who have travelled from overseas specifically with the intention of competing in the 2022 event, but for good reason are not able to compete in the event, may transfer their entry fee to one of the 2023 or 2024 events, or on request may receive a refund of 75% of their paid entry fee. The above refunds or transfers shall apply until 1 February 2022. After 1 February 2022, no refund or transfer will be made.
If New Zealand is in COVID level RED between 3 December 2021 and 30 January 2022, meaning the Challenge Wanaka Sports Trust cannot run an event in February 2022, competitors will be offered a transfer of their entry to one of the 2023 or 2024 events, or have a 75% refund.
If, after 1 February 2022, New Zealand enters COVID level RED, and this is affecting or impacting the Wanaka or Otago region, the 2022 event will be cancelled. As the event will have incurred significant costs, the Trust will be unable to offer any refund or transfer. The Challenge Wanaka Sports Trust will however endeavour to offer to cancelled 2022 competitors a discounted entry to the 2023 event, financed from any cash reserves left from 2022.
Challenge Wanaka Sports Trust will be guided by and will follow any policies or guidelines issued by the Government, including but not limited to:
If these policies or guidelines come in to play between 3 December 2021 and 30 January 2022, affected competitors will be offered a transfer of their entry to one of the 2023 or 2024 events, or have a 75% refund. If they come in to place after 1 February 2022, the Trust will be unable to offer any refund or transfer due to the event having incurred significant costs.
If Wanaka and the Otago region are in COVID level ORANGE on 31 January, the race organiser reserves the right to cancel the event in anticipation of the region entering RED. If this happens the Trust will be unable to offer any refund or transfer due to the event having incurred significant costs. The Challenge Wanaka Sports Trust will however endeavour to offer to cancelled 2022 competitors a discounted entry to the 2023 event, financed from any cash reserves left from 2022.
The Challenge Wanaka Sports Trust is committed to supporting Challenge Family athletes and trusts that they will understand that we will always be doing our best to look after them.
